Det har inkommit en rapport om en trolig nova av magnitud 15.6 i M31 (Andromedagalaxen). Det händer i och för sig ofta att novor upptäcks i M31, men de flesta är ljussvagare än denna.

“Koichi Nishiyama, Kurume,Japan and Fujio Kabashima, Miyaki,Japan report the discovery of a possible nova .(mag.= 15.6) in M31 on seven 40-s unfiltered CCD frames taken around 2013 Jan. 26.42700UT, ( limiting magnitude = 19.4 ) using a Meade 200R 0.40-m f/9.8 reflector (+SBIG STL1001E camera). as follows Nothing is visible at this location on our past frames taken on 2013 Jan. 20.421 UT (limiting magnitude = 19.1). and Jan. 23.420 UT (limiting magnitude = 19.1) . We have checked in Minor Planets. Nothing is visible at the position of possible nova on the Digitized Sky Survey(POSS2/UKSTU) from 1986 Nov. 27 (limiting red mag 18.9) and 1993 Oct. 21(limiting infrared mag 18.4). the nearest star in M31 catalogue (http://www.lowell.edu/users/massey/lgsurvey.html) has position end figures 01s92, 39."7, distance 4."8, magnitudes V=16.1, B=17.0, R=15.7.”
